Now that conferences are behind us, it can feel like a down hill sprint to the end of the school year. It can be very tempting to think that there is no more learning happening. However, this is NOT the case! This is the time of the year when students solidify the skills that will help them make the successful transition to the next grade. Attendance over the next 8 weeks is just as important as it has been all year.

Cub Families:
As we plan our Spring Music Concert, we would love your feedback. We have had different formats and we want your input on what works best for your family. We understand in the Spring there are many after school events and games and we want to make sure our students and families can attend and celebrate the hard work our musicians. Please complete the survey by Friday, April 8th and fill a survey out for each student at the school. We will use this data to help us plan.
Thank you!

When classes have a high number of absent students, teachers are forced to adjust their instructional pacing to "catch up" students who were absent. This means that even students who are regularly attending school, are negatively impacted by chronic absenteeism.
Chronic absence affects all kids, not just the absent ones. Learn how to help kids and families engage in school: http://bit.ly/1oqfID7. #HereTodayReadyforTomorrow

9 more school days until Spring Break! We understand that it can feel difficult getting your student to school this time of year, but (with the exception of illness) please to try to have your student to school on time for the next 9 days. Teachers will be wrapping up units and completing assessments in these final days. If your child is absent, he/she will have to make these up after break and that can be tough for kids to do.

With the flu season still upon us, it can be easy for absences to start adding up. student who is "chronically absent" misses more than 10% (or 17 days) of the school year. This is the equivalent of a whole month of learning lost! Parents can help avoid this loss by being aware of how many absences their student has accrued and "budgeting" any planned absences accordingly. Review the LCSD school calendar for days where there is no school when planning vacations and appointments.
