Missing more that 2 days of school/month is the equivalent of a 10% learning loss. While we know and understand that illness will happen, it is important to budget absences to avoid significant gaps in learning. Trackers such as these can be helpful for parents to record absences and indicate when your child is in danger of becoming excessively absent.

A reminder our Winter Concert is rescheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 3rd. Students to arrive by 5:15, concert starts at 5:30. Sorry for any confusion on the dates.

Last week our mid year "nudge" letters went home with report cards. Any student whose attendance rate was lower than 92% should have received a letter. If you have questions about your student's attendance or would like support in helping your child attend more regularly, please contact us at yves.office@lincoln.k12.or.us. Thank you!

Last week our attendance took a huge hit from illness. We appreciate those families that followed the guidelines on when to stay home and then reported symptoms to the school promptly. When we have large outbreaks of illness, like last week, we carefully track our students absences and symptoms and have a system in place for alerting the health authority if/when patterns arise. We also work with our custodial teams to increase cleaning and sanitation in an effort to get a handle on the germs. Parent notifications is an integral part of this system. Thank you to everybody who took the time to either call or email the office when your kiddo was absent from school!

Although it may feel like spring outside, winter is still upon us. In this season, weather and illness can create barriers to getting your student to school regularly. Check out the attached flyer for tips and tricks on how to promote good attendance for your student all winter long!

Come join the fun!

Families, we are RESCHEDULING our gingerbread making event for Friday January 16th. Times for grade levels will remain the same and we would still love to have parents join us in the fun. We were able to collect a good amount of supplies before break, however if you would still like to donate we could use a few more of the following: graham crackers, disposable table cloths, small disposable cups and spoons, craft sticks.

Kindergarten 1:00-2:00 in cafeteria
1st grade 10:00-11:00 in cafeteria
2nd grade 1:00-2:00 in CLASSROOMS
We hope to see you there to participate in the fun!

Our YV lost and found is full and will be getting packed up and donated over winter break. If your child is missing a coat, sweater, lunch box, or anything else, please be sure to check the lost and found this week.

We have seen a pretty sharp increase in illness this past month. While we want to make sure that parents are keeping students home when they have fever or vomiting, runny noses and coughs can be managed at school. Please review the When To Keep Your Child Home guidance document and contact our Health Secretary, Amanda Hutchinson, if you have questions.

* Students will be sitting in the bleachers with their class so after the concert, they will need to be checked out with their teacher.
